Fényes Mansion by Marlyn Woo/Joanne Wilborn
The Pasadena Museum of History offers docent-led tours of the 1906 Fényes Mansion on selected Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, each running from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at 470 W. Walnut St.
The Beaux Arts residence sits on what was once Pasadena’s Millionaire’s Row and remains largely unchanged from its days as a family home, the museum says. Architect Robert Farquhar designed it, with a 1911 addition by Sylvanus Marston, for artist and art patron Eva Scott Fényes and her husband, Dr. Adalbert Fényes. The interior is open by guided tour only, except on occasional community free days.
“Visitors can experience the historic Fenyes Mansion in depth… and see how the 1906 Beaux Art‑style residence has remained largely unchanged,” Daniel Nevarez, then the museum’s education and program coordinator, said in 2025.
Participants stand for two hours, the museum says. Comfortable footwear is suggested, high-heeled shoes are barred, and complimentary shoe covers are required. Backpacks, large bags and strollers stay outside, and children must be at least 8 and supervised throughout. The mansion is not fully wheelchair accessible: the uphill walk to the entrance includes several flights of stairs, and a small set of stairs inside makes two rooms hard to reach. Walkers and wheelchairs are allowed but not provided; visitors using one should call Nevarez at 626-831-9044 on a weekday beforehand.
