What costs a family of four $62 most days becomes free for three hours once a month at Kidspace Children’s Museum, where parents line up online for coveted tickets to Free First Fridays.

The museum in Pasadena’s monthly program transforms financial barriers into family opportunities, with the next free admission day scheduled for Friday, Oct. 3, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Advance reservations are required at kidspacemuseum.org, and tickets are released approximately two weeks before each visit date.

“Kidspace has figured out how to get kids playing to learn which we love,” noted family reviewers The Califoreigners in a 2021 YouTube video.

Regular admission runs $15.50 for adults and children over 1, and $13.50 for seniors 62 and older, with only infants under 1 admitted free. That pricing can quickly add up for multi-child families seeking educational entertainment.

The program opens doors to the 3.5-acre outdoor campus that serves hundreds of thousands of guests annually as of 2023. The museum, founded in 1979 by members of the Caltech community and Junior League of Pasadena, has grown to serve more than five million visitors and counts more than 6,000 members.

Operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Kidspace runs under Chief Executive Officer Lisa Clements, Chief Experience Officer Erik Bertellotti, and Chief Administrative Officer John Farrimond.

Free First Fridays will run on Friday, Oct. 3, at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Kidspace Children’s Museum, 480 N. Arroyo Blvd., in Pasadena. For more call (626) 449-9144 or visit kidspacemuseum.org/event/free-first-fridays-9/2025-10-03/. Tickets: Free.
