The Pasadena Police Department is hosting Coffee with A Cop on Tuesday, October 27, where residents and authorities can discuss crime prevention and safety tips, or just have great conversation about the community.

Coffee With A Cop will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Starbucks shop at 671 N. Fair Oaks Ave.

This isn’t the first time the Pasadena Police Department has hosted Coffee With A Cop as a way to connect with the residents. Before the pandemic, Coffee With A Cop happens multiple times during the year and serves as an opportunity for the Police Department to provide updates on recent community policing policies, and for residents to have some one-on-one time with their law enforcement friends.

At other times, Coffee With A Cop happens for a specific objective, such as to raise funds for the Department’s community outreach projects or for other community programs where police officers are involved.

In February, just before the COVID-19 emergency was declared, the Pasadena Police Department and Urbane Café along South Lake Street hosted its inaugural “Cookie With A Cop” which also included an information drive on the Department’s recruitment effort, aside from the regular dialogue and relaxed face-to-face conversation.

“We’ve seen the Pasadena PD doing Coffee With a Cop at other spots and we were thinking of how we could host them here,” Paige Turpin, Catering Sales Manager at Urbane Café, said in February. “We don’t serve coffee here, but we do have cookies, so we thought let’s do it!”

The Police Department’s Community Outreach Unit plans and coordinates these events with community partners to promote “on-site, direct and open communications,” including holding regular community meetings, open houses, and other public events.

Coffee With A Cop on Tuesday and onwards will follow COVID guidelines, the Police Department said.
