Pasadena City Hall hosted its first Pride celebration four Junes ago a single Saturday evening in Centennial Square called “Love, Loud & Proud!” This year, the celebration fills a month.

The City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department will host the fifth annual Pasadena Pride celebration on Saturday, June 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. at City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave. The free, family-friendly event features performances by local drag artists, a live DJ, food trucks, arts and crafts, face painting, and community booths staffed by local LGBTQIA+ organizations, partners, and allies, according to the City. All ages and identities are welcome. Admission is free, with food available for purchase.

The evening event anchors a broader month of Pride programming across the city. A Pride Month flag raising with Mayor Victor M. Gordo and the City Council opened the month on Monday, June 1, at 12:30 p.m. at City Hall, according to a City press release issued May 28. The rest of the month belongs to the libraries.

On June 11 at 4:30 p.m., Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley will lead a “Parenting with Pride: LGBTQIA+ and Inclusivity 101” workshop at the Jefferson Branch Library, 1500 E. Villa St., for adults 18 and older. Registration is available at CityOfPasadena.net/Library/Calendar/. A “Make Your Mark: A Keith Haring Workshop for Teens” follows at 3 p.m. June 23 at the same library, open to ages 13 to 19.

On June 27, an online book group will discuss “Crawl: Stories” by Max Delsohn at 10:30 a.m. via Zoom, for ages 50 and older. A Pride Crafternoon at the Hill Avenue Branch Library, 55 S. Hill Ave., rounds out the programming at 3 p.m. that afternoon, for ages 18 and older. Throughout June, the City’s Communication and Marketing Division and Economic Development Division will spotlight LGBTQIA+-owned businesses in Pasadena on social media.

The celebration has been held at Centennial Square every year since its debut in 2022. The city hosted the event under the “Love, Loud & Proud!” name through 2025 before rebranding it as the Pasadena Pride celebration this year, according to Visit Pasadena.

Five years in, the rainbow flags keep returning to City Hall each June and now the rest of the city is joining in.
