The Pasadena Rotary Club will host the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Courage Awards ceremony on September 10, recognizing ordinary citizens who performed extraordinary acts of bravery during crisis situations. The event, scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at the University Club of Pasadena at 175 N Oakland Ave. in Pasadena, continues a partnership between the District Attorney’s office and local Rotary Clubs. The specific honorees for the Pasadena ceremony have not yet been announced.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office presents the Courage Awards several times a year to honor people who demonstrate valor during emergencies. At a recent Westchester ceremony, Nathan J. Hochman honored Angela Ervin, James Lawrence and Ivan Gonzalez Juarez. Acts included a woman who intervened in domestic violence, a store employee who helped stop a kidnapping and construction workers who stopped an attacker.

“I am proud to honor each of these individuals,” Hochman said. “Their willingness to intervene and protect those around them, including strangers, reflects our strength in Los Angeles County. Heroes don’t always wear uniforms; sometimes they’re simply people who stepped up during a crisis.” “I extend my personal gratitude to these heroic bystanders who made the difficult decision to intervene in the moment of crisis, setting their personal welfare aside, to help victims of crime,” Hochman added.

“Pasadena Rotary Weekly Club Meeting featuring LA County District Attorney’s Courage Awards” will run Wednesday, September 10 at 12:00 p.m. University Club of Pasadena, The University Club of Pasadena. 175 N.
