Families trying to sort out their children’s summer plans can meet representatives from more than a dozen youth organizations in one afternoon at a free expo this Sunday at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School.
The Summer Activities Expo, scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. on March 22 at the school’s campus at 2660 E. Orange Grove Blvd., brings together programs ranging from performing arts and music instruction to horseback riding and sports camps — giving parents a chance to compare options spanning disciplines they might not otherwise encounter in one place, according to the school’s announcement.
The 12 confirmed participants include the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena, which offers after-school and summer programs for youth at two Pasadena clubhouses; Theatre 360, a Pasadena-based youth performing arts company that has trained young actors ages 3 to 19 for more than 25 years; and the Pasadena Conservatory of Music, which provides instruction for students from infancy through adulthood.
Physical and outdoor activities are also represented. Rose Bowl Riders, a volunteer-run equestrian center on 12 acres in Pasadena’s Hahamongna Watershed Park, will be on hand alongside Pasadena Civic Ballet, which has offered dance training for children as young as 3½ since 1974. ABVM’s own Gator Camp and sports programs are among the listings.
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy’s Sports Camp, which serves girls ages 6 to 12 in La Cañada Flintridge, is also participating, as are Camp Lolek, a Catholic residential summer camp in Wrightwood; Friends Western School, a cooperative Quaker elementary school in Pasadena; Fire Dragon Yoga; and SET, described as Sensory Engagement Training.
The school said the participant list may be updated and directed families to linktr.ee/abvmpasadena for the latest information.
ABVM School, a Catholic school serving students in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade, was founded in 1952 and is located in eastern Pasadena. For more information, contact the school at (626) 793-2089 or admissions@abvmpasadena.org.
Admission is free. The school described the event as open to “kids of all ages.”
