The Pasadena Senior Center is hosting an online presentation Thursday to discuss scams and frauds that have been reported amid the pandemic.
The free event is scheduled for 10 a.m.
“Whenever disaster hits, greedy scammers and fraudsters begin to pounce on unsuspecting victims,” the Senior Center said in a written statement. “As the coronavirus spreads throughout our communities, disrupting our way of life and instilling fear among us, we must remain vigilant. If not, enterprising criminals will take advantage of that fear to perpetrate consumer fraud.”
Topics to be covered will include scams that have been flourishing during the pandemic; COVID-19-related investment scams; charitable giving scams; and healthcare scams, along with consumer warnings and safety tips, organizers said.
