The Pasadena Senior Center will offer a free workshop on navigating difficult family conversations on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m.

The event, titled “Navigating Difficult Family Conversations and Challenges: A Family Guide to Well-Being,” will be presented by Foundation for Senior Services, a Glendale-based nonprofit that provides educational programs for seniors and their families.

According to the Pasadena Senior Center website, “Family dynamics can be complex and emotionally charged. This guide offers compassionate communication techniques to foster understanding, reduce conflict, and support family healing.”

The Foundation for Senior Services offers courses at no cost through its Age Well Academy program. The two organizations have collaborated on previous educational programming, including a March 2023 workshop titled “The Importance of Family Conversations as We Age.”

The Pasadena Senior Center, which opened in May 1960, was the first nonprofit senior center in Southern California. In 2022, U.S. Rep. Judy Chu honored the center as Nonprofit of the Year. The center is open to anyone 50 and older; Pasadena residency is not required. Reservations are suggested.

Navigating Difficult Family Conversations and Challenges: A Family Guide to Well-Being will run on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly St., Pasadena.
