Pasadena Senior Games 2022 Kick Off With Pickleball Competition

Published on May 20, 2022

Pasadena Senior Games, hosted by the Pasadena Senior Center, features a pickleball competition on Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, at the Arcadia Tennis Center in Arcadia.

This is the earliest competition in the Senior Games for 2022, featuring at least 20 athletic events – archery, bowling, golf and disc golf, track and field and swimming, among others – for men and women aged 55 and above. Most of the other games will happen in June or July, sanctioned by California Senior Games and the National Senior Games Association (NSGA).

Saturday’s Pickleball games include Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles, and on Sunday, Mixed Doubles and Singles are scheduled. The competition will be round-robin by age and level. Age divisions are 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 70, 70 to 74, 75 to 79, and 80 and above. Levels include Novice, with very little play experience; Advanced Beginner, with substantial play experience; Intermediate, or experienced competitors; and Advanced, or the strongest players.

The Pasadena Senior Center will award medals to the top three finishers in each division.

Pickleball registration fee is $35 per event. The deadline has passed, though, and no new registrations for players are being accepted.
