Katie Brandon, Executive Director of Pasadena Village, is organizing the event, which is open to all members of the public. Participants will meet at the corner of E. Mountain Street and North Sierra Bonita Ave. to begin their exploration.
The walk will showcase the neighborhood’s wide streets and architectural highlights, including Spanish revival and Craftsman-style homes. Of particular interest is the childhood home of rock legend Eddie Van Halen, adding a touch of musical history to the tour.
The route will lead north to E. Washington Blvd., an area known for its Armenian businesses. Walkers will have the opportunity to visit Sarkis Pastry, where they can sample traditional Middle Eastern sweets before returning to the starting point.
Pasadena Village describes itself as a community of older adults from the greater Pasadena area who have joined together to support one another.
“We believe we can have a better experience of aging when we know we can rely on each other for support, for resources and for friendship,” the organization says on its website.
