Pasadena Walking Tours (PWT) will lead a tour of the first leg of the Rose Parade route on Friday, December 31, allowing participants to learn more about the festivities and activities that captivates the city and its people on New Year’s Day..

The tour, a distance of about 1.8 miles, begins at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of California Blvd. and St. John Ave. at Singer Park, just a few blocks from where the floats taking part in the parade will be assembling by then and getting ready for the next morning’s major activity.

Some of the highlights of the New Years in Pasadena walking tour will include a telling of the history of the Rose Parade and a view of the initial part of the parade route. PWT said participants will also get a chance to view Tournament House, or the Wrigley Mansion, on Orange Grove Blvd.; the former Vista Del Arroyo Hotel, and the historic Colorado Street Bridge, all within the general area around which the Rose Parade festivities begin.

The tour ends at Castle Green, at 99 S. Raymond Ave., a Nationally Registered Historic Monument and a Pasadena treasure that’s over 100 years old.

PWT said the tour will take about two hours.

Tickets are $10 to $25.
