Parson’s Nose Theater in Pasadena has released two new podcasts in its “Radio Theater of the Air” series, which presents the classics in the fun, intelligent, Parson’s Nose style.
Deemed “the best farce of the 19th Century” by The New York Times, “Box and Cox” is an immensely popular one-act play, written in 1848 by British playwright John Maddison Morton.
This radio version is a souffle of silly comedy performed by Parson’s Nose Theater company members Barry Gordon, Mary Chalon and Lance Davis, with sound engineering by David Bennett. Episode 1 of this audio play is 30 minutes long.
The second podcast shows how Parson’s Nose Radio Theater loves Hans Christian Andersen. In “The Happy Family,” Denmark’s greatest storyteller gives listeners the tale of Mama and Papa snail, who live under the dock by the pond, and whose greatest dream is to be fried and served with butter in the Manor House.
This audio version was adapted by Davis for the city of Pasadena Cultural Affairs “Spring ArtNight 2021” and performed by Parson’s Nose company members Mary Chalon and Davis. Sound engineering is by David Bennett. Episode 1 is 14 minutes long.
The podcasts are available on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Anchor, Breaker, Spotify and Radio Public. For more information, visit www.parsonsnose.org/press-
