Pasadena Now’s Ultimate Local Guide for Everything Halloween

Halloween is coming up quickly, and to celebrate we’ve collected all of the events happening around Pasadena that will get you in the spooky spirit of the occasion.

13 Days of Halloween – Kidspace Children’s Museum, Online

For 13 lucky days beginning Oct. 19, children can “trick-or-treat” online to learn and laugh about pumpkins, bats, spiders, and more. A new door with a new video treat unlocks every day. To sweeten the surprise, you can unwrap science experiments, crafts, and recipes. Halloween Photo Contest – City of Pasadena

Through Oct. 29, the city of Pasadena will accept photo entries featuring your family-friendly costumes or your indoor or outdoor Halloween or fall-themed décor, for a chance to win fun prizes. They’re looking for the most SPOOK-tacular, FANG-tastic, and unBOOlievably best of the best! The contest is open to Pasadena residents only who are 18 or older. All entries must be family-friendly. Explicit or offensive photo entries will be disqualified. Winners will be notified through their social media account or email. Proof of residency must be provided when claiming a prize. Unclaimed prizes will be given to the contest runner-up. Photos must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 29 to be eligible to win. There are two ways to enter: either tag your photos on social media #prcshalloween20, or email them to prcsevents@cityofpasadena.net, with the subject line Halloween Contest.

Halloween Spooktacular Virtual Party – Macaroni Kid Pasadena and Pasadena Party Patrol

This event from 3 to 4 p.m. on Halloween Night will feature a live deejay, a costume contest, games galore, and a dance-off. Boo Bags for $5 are available to residents of Pasadena, South Pasadena, La Canada Flintridge, Altadena, Monrovia, Sierra Madre, and San Marino. General admission tickets are $20, VIP tickets are $25. Growl-o-Ween – Pasadena Humane, 361 S. Raymond Ave.

Pick up a growler or two to go or enjoy a beverage with food at any of the participating breweries over Halloween weekend, Oct. 30 to Nov. 1. Mention Pasadena Humane or show them the flyer posted in the event discussion page, www.facebook.com/events/1452807231576428, and 10 percent of the proceeds will come back to the shelter. Participating breweries are Cervecería Del Pueblo, Golden Road Brewing, Hop Secret Brewing Company, My Lowe Brewing Co., Rt Rogers Brewing Co., and WingWalker Brewing.

Dia de Los Muertos and Halloween – Pasadena Public Library, Virtual

Join the Pasadena Public Library on Instagram at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30 to learn about the history and culture of both Dia de Los Muertos and Halloween. On top of that, participants will also learn two Halloween recipes — Spooky Pumpkin Patch Dessert and Pan de Muerto. The event will be available to watch On Instagram Live @pasadenalibrary.

A Howlin’ Halloween – Pasadena Humane, Online

Join Pasadena Humane and friends for a Boo-Nan-Zaa of fun at noon Saturday, Oct. 31. Tune in to the Pasadena Humane Facebook page to catch the premiere of Howlin’ Halloween! Follow along as staff members make pumpkin dog treats, listen to a spellbinding story, and make creepy crafts. Top it off with some magical and mysterious adoptable animals. Halloween Virtual Costume and Dance Party – Pasadena Senior Center, Online

On Saturday, Oct. 31, join your friends at the Pasadena Senior Center for a fun and festive virtual dance party with music by the Great American Swing Band and a special appearance by the Tap Chicks. Participants will do some virtual trick-or-treating, so get those Halloween masks ready. A Drive Down Halloween Lane – First United Methodist Church of Pasadena, 500 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena; Planetary Society, 60 S. Los Robles Ave., Pasadena

Put your creative, artistic, or competitive energies into action and contribute to this year’s Halloween event for the First United Methodist Church community. Carve a jack-o-lantern and bring it to the Planetary Society parking lot between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. For extra fun, and the chance to win a prize, give your car a costume or decorate it with a theme. For example, you could make your car look like a pirate ship and dress your family as pirates. Be creative and have fun! E-gift cards will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. For more information, call (626) 796-0157.

To participate in A Drive Down Halloween Lane, all participants will enter the Planetary Society parking lot from Green Street and exit the First United Methodist Church parking lot on Green Street. In the event that the parking lots are full, participants will be asked to circle the block. Cars cannot wait on Green Street or Los Robles Avenue and block the flow of traffic.

Trunk-or-Treat Spooktacular Night – Holy Family Church, 1501 Fremont Ave., South Pasadena

Enjoy free, fun, and safe drive-thru “trunk-or-treating” in the spooky Holy Family Church Parking Lot. It will be a night of candy, games, a best-decorated car contest, and other scary surprises.
