Santa Catalina Branch, one of the oldest branch libraries in the Pasadena system, serves as a neighborhood hub for the surrounding community. The branch operates Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The patchwork ornament program aligns with the Pasadena Public Library’s broader December holiday initiatives. The library system has encouraged residents to “celebrate the holidays at the Pasadena Public Library” with “free crafts, programs and events for all ages.” In an official social media post dated December 1, the library announced: “December is here, and the library is glowing with holiday cheer! Celebrate the holidays with the Pasadena Public Library. Enjoy free crafts, stories, and holiday-themed events for all ages.”
Similar holiday programming is taking place across multiple branches. Lamanda Park Branch is hosting a holiday tree-decorating activity December 11 to 16, while Santa Catalina also hosts additional December festivities, including an “Ugly Christmas Sweater Extravaganza” on Friday, December 15, and “Happy Noon Year” on Saturday, December 30 at 11:30 a.m.
Pasadena Public Library operates under the leadership of Tim McDonald, director of Libraries and Information Services. The 10-branch system circulates more than 1.2 million items annually and operates with an annual budget of about $16.5 million.
