The original production, titled “Fables of the Urban Woods,” opens next week at PCC’s Little Theater on Colorado Boulevard, with at least two performances scheduled. It is part of the college’s spring performing arts season, which this month includes a mainstage staging of “Brighton Beach Memoirs,” a Beethoven symphony concert, and several other student productions across campus.
The production’s premise, according to its Eventbrite listing, follows a group of travelers who arrive in New York City for a single day, only to find the city reshaping their plans. The travelers find themselves “wandering the ‘urban woods,’ chasing love, ambition, escape, and something harder to name,” the listing states. As time bends and choices multiply, each character must decide what to hold onto and what to leave behind.
The show is a workshop production — more intimate than the mainstage offerings staged at PCC’s Center for the Arts Theater, but rooted in the same student-driven model. PCC’s Theater Arts department produces student-cast and student-run shows each semester, drawing from the college’s Performing and Communication Arts division. The Little Theater, located in room C 106 of PCC’s C Building, serves as the venue for these smaller-scale productions.
“Fables of the Urban Woods” opens Tuesday, June 9, at 7:30 p.m., with at least one additional performance. Tickets are available through Eventbrite and were noted as selling quickly as of early June.
