The production, written and performed by Waller-Bridge and directed by Vicky Jones, was filmed during a record-breaking 2019 West End run that followed sold-out engagements in New York and London. The show is the source material for the television series of the same name, which won Waller-Bridge multiple Emmy and Golden Globe awards. As Boston Court frames it, “Fleabag may seem oversexed, emotionally unfiltered and self-obsessed, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. With family and friendships under strain and a guinea pig café struggling to keep afloat, Fleabag suddenly finds herself with nothing to lose.”
Boston Court Pasadena is a small, intimate venue tucked into Pasadena’s Playhouse District. The theater’s NT Live series brings National Theatre Live’s high-definition stage broadcasts from London to a single Pasadena room, with state-of-the-art filming tailored to each production. Thursday’s “Fleabag” is the opening title of a multi-day NT Live block at Boston Court, which also includes “The Frankenstein Project” on Friday, “All My Sons” Saturday afternoon, “Inter Alia” Saturday evening, “The Audience” Sunday afternoon and “Mrs. Warren’s Profession” Sunday evening.
The presentation was first produced for the stage by DryWrite, Soho Theatre and Annapurna Theatre.
“Fleabag” will screen on Thursday, May 21 at 7 p.m. Boston Court Pasadena, 70 N. Mentor Ave., Pasadena. For more information and to purchase tickets, call (626) 683-6801 or visit bostoncourtpasadena.org.
