The Playhouse Village Foundation has recheduled its February 12th community-building celebration at the Ice House Comedy Club in response to the Eaton Fire destruction. The new date? April 30 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Now more vital than ever before, the neighborhood’s initiative reflects the organization’s focus on supporting affected residents and acknowledging ongoing cleanup and evacuation efforts in the Los Angeles area.

“The most important thing to know about this community-building drive is that your participation as a donor or attendee absolutely makes the difference in our ability to deliver free programs that Playhouse Village — and the larger community — needs now. When the time is right this spring, we invite you to meet your neighbors and enjoy local food, drinks and festivities. Don’t miss this truly important celebration of all that makes Playhouse Village tick,” urges Playhouse Village Foundation Chair Phil Hawkey.

The event, “A Night Out in Playhouse Village,” was set to feature comedian Margaret Cho and raise funds for free public programs, including jazz concerts, movies in Playhouse Village Park, games and activities for kids and families, public art, al fresco dining, and pedestrian improvements. The Foundation noted particular urgency for these community spaces following the loss of Altadena’s Farnsworth Park, with plans to welcome “all our friends in need from Pasadena and Altadena with open arms” this summer.

Lagerlof Cares, the charitable arm of Pasadena’s largest law firm Lagerlof LLP, leads the sponsor lineup for the rescheduled 2025 community-building event. Additional supporters include Arash Danialifar of GD Realty, Rodolfo F. Ruiz of Vanderford & Ruiz LLP, and AC Hotel Pasadena. Local businesses and individual sponsors contributing include Coleen Carey of Lee & Associates, Phil and Dena Spanos Hawkey, Marjorie Lindbeck, Tyler + Kelly Architecture, Carla Walecka and Wayne Hunt, Swig Company, Patricia Barajas Tavara and Dino Barajas, Alex Wang, Ice House Comedy Club, and a generous anonymous sponsor.

The Playhouse Village neighborhood features the City’s financial District, premier office space, cultural amenities, and thousands of residential units for a truly urban, walkable experience.

The area is distinguished by three added advantages: its own business improvement District, nonprofit Playhouse Village Association, and charitable nonprofit Playhouse Village Foundation which builds a thriving community by activating and enhancing the area’s open spaces, streets, sidewalks, alleys and paseos for greater public benefit.

“Stay tuned for our announcement about resuming A Night Out in Playhouse Village,” Hawkey added. Interested participants can receive updates and make donations at: www.playhousevillagefoundation.org/nightout.
