Red Hen Press, an independent literary publisher in Pasadena, will hold its 30th annual benefit champagne luncheon on Sunday, Oct. 6, at Noor Pasadena. The hybrid event will feature readings, a live auction, and opportunities to meet Red Hen authors and members of the literary community.
The luncheon runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and marks Red Hen’s return to in-person programming after previous virtual events. Attendees can choose between attending the indoor ballroom celebration or participating virtually in live-streamed programming from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Featured authors hosting gold tables include Aliah Wright, Douglas Manuel, Florencia Ramirez, Jason Schneiderman, and David St. John. Each author will share their work and interact with guests at their sponsored tables.
Wright, a former journalist for outlets including the Associated Press, will present her debut novel “Now You Owe Me.” Manuel, a poet and educator, will showcase his award-winning collection “Testify.”
Ramirez, a researcher and environmental writer, will discuss her book “Eat Less Water.” Schneiderman, a professor at CUNY, will feature his latest poetry collection “Hold Me Tight.”
St. John, a renowned poet and professor at USC, rounds out the gold table hosts with his work “The Last Troubadour: New and Selected Poems.”
Silver table hosts include Red Hen Press founders Kate Gale and Mark Cull, along with authors Carlos Allende, Esinam Bediako, Brendan Constantine, Jose Hernandez Diaz, Kim Dower, Jenny Factor, Amber Flame, E.P. Tuazon, Luke Goebel, Aimee Liu, Pete Hsu, Lisa See, Kristen Millares Young, and Bonnie Nadell.
The event offers various sponsorship packages, ranging from individual tickets at $200 to gold table sponsorships at $6,000. Virtual tickets are available for $50, providing access to live-streamed programming and a mailed gift bag. Bronze table sponsorships are available for $2,500, and Book Angel Sponsorships for $1,000.
Additional sponsorship opportunities include becoming a Publishing Sponsor for $5,000, a Program Sponsor for $3,000, or a Book Angel Sponsor for $1,000. These options offer recognition on Red Hen’s donor wall and acknowledgment in publications.
Proceeds from the luncheon will support Red Hen Press’s ongoing literary initiatives, including its Writing in the Schools program and various imprints like Letras Latinas and Pighog Press.
