This Valentine’s Day, the Pasadena Museum of History and The Gamble House are opening their doors for an evening that promises something increasingly rare in modern romance: a chance to experience love the way Victorians did—through whispered messages hidden in flowers and the timeless beauty of architectural craftsmanship.

On Saturday, February 14, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the two institutions jointly present Romance Along the Arroyo, an intimate dual-venue experience weaving together 19th-century courtship rituals and live classical music on a period Steinway grand piano.

At the Fényes Mansion, guests encounter the Language of Flowers—floriography, the Victorian art of communicating through carefully arranged blooms. Light classical music performed on a 1907 Steinway & Sons grand piano will accompany exploration of the 1906 Beaux Arts home, along with sparkling toasts and refreshments.

Across the street at The Gamble House, visitors experience one of the world’s finest examples of American domestic design. Built between 1908 and 1909 by the legendary Greene brothers, the home showcases meticulous Arts and Crafts craftsmanship.

General admission is $35 per person; members of either institution receive $30 tickets. A single ticket grants access to both locations. The event is restricted to guests 21 and older with valid identification required at check-in.
