Rose Bowl Turkey Trot 2025: Pasadena’s Thanksgiving Tradition

Published on Nov 26, 2025

Thanksgiving morning in Pasadena isn’t just about turkey and pumpkin pie—it’s about lacing up your sneakers and joining neighbors for the 8th Annual Rose Bowl Turkey Trot. From competitive runners to families with strollers, this festive 5K has become a beloved holiday ritual, blending fitness, fun, and community spirit against the backdrop of the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium.

A Scenic Start to the Holiday

The trot kicks off promptly at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 27 with participants looping the 3.1-mile Rose Bowl course. The paved trail winds past Brookside Golf Course and offers sweeping views of the San Gabriel Mountains. Whether you’re running for a timed finish or strolling with your kids, the course is flat, accessible, and welcoming to all ages.

All registered participants receive a race bib and finisher’s medal. Sources conflict on whether a T-shirt is included—some mention it, while official event pages list only bib and medal.

Festive Fun Beyond the Run

This isn’t just a race—it’s a celebration. Expect holiday-themed photo ops, including a 360° photo booth, prizes and giveaways, and a costume contest where Thanksgiving flair is highly encouraged. Dogs on leashes are welcome, and strollers are not only permitted but celebrated as part of the family-friendly vibe (participants with strollers are asked to allow other racers to pass safely). Vendor activations will also be on-site, though specific vendor names and schedules have not yet been publicly released.

Community at the Heart

The Turkey Trot is more than exercise—it’s a fundraiser with impact. All registration fees are 100% tax-deductible, supporting the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation and the Pasadena Educational Foundation’s Eaton Fire Response Fund. With thousands of local families affected by the devastating January 2025 fire, this year’s event carries special meaning as a chance for healing and support. Free registration for all Pasadena Unified School District students underscores the commitment to accessibility and recovery.

Race Day Logistics

Bib pickup is available the day before (November 26, 12–5 PM) or starting at 6:30 AM on race morning. Parking is free in Lot K, conveniently located at the corner of West Drive and Seco Street. Public transit options include the Metro A Line to Memorial Park Station and Pasadena Transit buses serving the Rose Bowl area, though riders should confirm Thanksgiving Day schedules.

Registration remains open through November 27, 2025, at 11:59 p.m., though organizers report spots are filling quickly. As of late November, approximately 1,153 spots remained.

There is one water station halfway around the course, but organizers suggest bringing your own water as well.

A Tradition Worth Keeping

Since its start in 2018, the Turkey Trot has grown into a Thanksgiving staple, thanks to the vision of Julia Goldstein, now Executive Director of Events at the Rose Bowl Stadium. With support from CEO Jens Weiden and the Rose Bowl Operating Company, the event continues to blend holiday cheer with civic pride.

So before you gobble, trot! Costumes, camaraderie, and community await at Pasadena’s most spirited Thanksgiving tradition.
