Run Where You Like at This Year’s Annual Rose Bowl Turkey Trot

Published on Nov 24, 2020

Join the Rose Bowl Stadium between Wednesday, November 25, and Friday, November 27, for the annual Turkey Trot, which will be virtual this year due to COVID-19.

The third annual Rose Bowl Turkey Trot “just got bigger by taking on the world and coming to your city, virtually,” according to the Rose Bowl’s announcement.

“This Pasadena family tradition is pivoting from its typical 5K trot around the stadium on Thanksgiving morning, and is allowing anyone to participate no matter where they are, by sharing in this year’s virtual format,” the announcement said. “Runners, trotters, skippers and jumpers can continue the tradition from the comfort and safety of their favorite running path!”

Participants to the virtual event will be given a window to join in on the fun by racing between 6 a.m. of Wednesday, November 25, and 8 p.m. Friday, November 27. All entry fees for 2020 are tax-deductible and go directly to the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation’s America’s Stadium Needs America Campaign.

“Trot before you gobble and help preserve, protect and enhance the Rose Bowl Stadium,” the announcement said.

In the virtual run or walk, all registered participants will run or walk at a place of their choice – your neighborhood park or running trail, bike path, quiet neighborhood streets or wherever walking and running is safely permitted.

Participants are of course encouraged to complete the route around the Rose Bowl Loop recreational path, a 5K loop that surrounds the Rose Bowl Stadium and Brookside Golf course.

All participants are encouraged to use the RaceJoy app to track their official time and automatically send in their finish time as well as listen to special messages from Rose Bowl friends during your trot. You can download the app to your Apple or Android device by visiting www.racejoy.net/download.

Included in the registration, participants will receive a virtual goodie bag, a print-at-home runner bib and custom photo borders to share their journey. To commemorate their run, purchasers can upgrade their ticket to add on a 2020 Rose Bowl Turkey Trot T-Shirt.

Also, in the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday and in partnership with Union Station Homeless Services, purchasers will be offered the opportunity to make a donation of their choice to feeding local community members in need. Donations will go to purchasing food items to help Union Station Homeless Services celebrate its 50th Anniversary of Dinner in the Park, an incredible community event that has provided thousands of holiday meals and hope which this year is also going virtual.

Don’t forget to post photos of your trot and tag @rosebowlstadium and @rosebowllegacy using the hashtag #MemoriesMakeUs #RoseBowlTurkeyTrot.
