The Mixx runs its weekly Tropical Tuesday from 8 p.m. with lessons from instructor Rogelio Moreno; the night is for ages 21 and older.

Colorado Boulevard quiets down on a Tuesday. Inside 443 E. Colorado Blvd., it does not.

The Mixx runs Salsa Mixx, the restaurant and lounge’s weekly Tropical Tuesday, from 8 p.m. to midnight August 18. The format is consistent: instruction first, then open social dancing on a professional floor, with music from DJ Salsa y Sabor.

Lessons in salsa and bachata are led by Rogelio Moreno, an award-winning Los Angeles instructor who teaches the venue’s Tuesday classes on a recurring basis. Attendance doesn’t require you bring a partner.

The night runs 21 and over. Parking is free, and the venue offers two-for-one drinks through the evening alongside dinner and cocktail menus that include zero-proof cocktails. The kitchen serves through the evening.

Tuesday is one of several recurring nights on the venue’s calendar, which also includes salsa Sundays with instructor Arlene Santos, a free Wednesday comedy show, karaoke, and live tribute bands on weekends. Happy hour runs all day Tuesday through Thursday and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

NEED TO KNOW: Salsa Mixx runs Tuesday, August 18, from 8 p.m. to midnight at The Mixx, 443 E. Colorado Blvd., in Pasadena.
