The Old Mill Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in 1995 with the sole purpose of maintaining, preserving, and operating The Old Mill in San Marino, is hosting its first virtual “Music Under the Stars” concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.

The concert will be streamed live from the historic building, in Spanish called El Molino Viejo, which served as a gristmill for Mission San Gabriel for many years.

El Molino Viejo is a California Historical Landmark, celebrating the history of the state, and is considered the oldest commercial building in Southern California.

Completed in 1816, the mill is situated on a hillside about two miles northwest of Mission San Gabriel. El Molino Viejo now belongs to the city of San Marino and is operated by The Old Mill Foundation.

“Music Under the Stars” will be a 40-minute piano and violin concert featuring pianist Dr. Vanessa Fadial, who currently serves on the Piano and Chamber Music Faculty at the Colburn School in Los Angeles.

She will be performing with violinist Cheryl Norman-Brick, who has a multi-faceted career as a soloist, chamber musician, world-class orchestral player and professional recording artist. Norman-Brick has toured worldwide with the LA Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and played on over 100 movie and TV scores.

The concert will open on The Old Mill’s Pomegranate Patio with a Bach solo by Norman-Brick, and will then resume in Fadial’s home where the two will perform the remainder of the program.

You can watch the concert on The Old Mill Foundation’s website, www.old-mill.org, the Foundation’s new YouTube channel, or on their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/El-Molino-Viejo-The-Old-Mill-1459081124350256/.

Links will be accessible at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. The links will be up and running for a few weeks so if you cannot tune in on Sept. 26, come back and watch the replay any time after that date.

“Music Under The Stars” will be available to the public free to stream.
