Saturday, Police Offer Free “Insurance” to Protect Your Bicycle’s Recovery If Stolen and Later Found

Published on Jul 9, 2022

For just a little time and effort, you can make a move that could get your bicycle back if it’s stolen and recovered.

Pasadena police (park specialists, to be precise) are hosting a free bicycle registration event on Saturday, July 9, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Central Park, 275 S. Raymond Ave. in Old Pasadena.

Interim Police Chief Jason Clawson said registering your bicycle with the Police Department could help protect your bike from theft. In the event your bike is actually stolen, having it registered can also help Pasadena police officers identify your bicycle easily.

The registration also helps if your bike is stolen and recovered by police in a different city. The information on the decal allows law enforcement to quickly contact you to return it.

The bicycle owner must be a Pasadena resident to be able to register their bicycle with the Pasadena Police Department.

For this bicycle registration event, just bring your bicycle and an identification card with you.

Pasadena Park Specialists will operate the event.

According to the Pasadena Police Department webpage, registering a bicycle normally costs $4.
