Artistic Director of the San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers, McCaskey is also author of the “AltStrings Fiddle Method” and runs AltStringsAcademy.com, a learning community for amateur adult string players. After her debut as saw soloist with the San Francisco Symphony, conductor Michael Tilson Thomas declared her “the prima donna assoluta of the instrument – in writing, with a Sharpie, on her saw.”
The first session at 5:30 p.m. is a String Suzuki Workshop in the PCM Auditorium, open to PCM students enrolled in the Strings Suzuki Program with public observation welcome. The second session at 6:30 p.m. is a Young Adult & Adult Workshop in Barrett Hall, with limited participant spots available by sign-up and public observation welcome.
McCaskey is certified by the Suzuki Association of the Americas to teach Violin books 1-10 and holds Suzuki teaching certification in violin and cello. She teaches at camps throughout the U.S. and Canada and maintains a private studio online and in the South Bay Area.
The Pasadena Conservatory of Music, an independent, nonprofit, nationally-accredited community school established in 1984, enrolls approximately 1,200 students annually with more than 50 music faculty members.
