Seated Pilates Class Continues Wednesdays at the Pasadena Senior Center

Published on Jul 27, 2026

A seated Pilates class for older adults continues its summer run at the Pasadena Senior Center, with a session scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.

The class, called Chair Pilates, meets Wednesdays from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Center, 85 East Holly Street in Pasadena. According to the Pasadena Senior Center’s July 2026 magazine, it is a full-body workout performed entirely in a seated position and is intended for older adults and beginners, with a focus on improving posture, strengthening the core and stretching. The instructor is Hector Ramirez.

The Center also offers a separate Chair Pilates section on Fridays from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the same instructor. Both sections are part of the Center’s summer class term, which the magazine lists as running from July 6 to September 12.

The July 29 meeting is part of a 10-session series that began Wednesday, July 8, and runs through September, rather than a one-time event. The magazine lists a member price of $60 for the full series and notes that membership in the Center, which is open to adults age 50 and up, is required to enroll. Registration closed at noon on Thursday, July 2; the Center states that late registration is accepted only if space permits and advises prospective participants to check with the class instructor after the deadline. According to the magazine, the Center reserves the right to cancel or combine classes with insufficient registration, and scholarships for low-income seniors are available on a limited basis through the Welcome Desk.

The magazine also notes that, by their nature, some programs involve physical exertion and a degree of risk, and it advises participants to check with a physician before taking part. It states that the Center does not provide medical insurance coverage for injuries sustained during its activities.

Chair Pilates is one of more than 35 classes the Pasadena Senior Center lists for the summer, spanning exercise and fitness, dance, language and hobby offerings. Related fitness options in the same catalog include Chair Aerobics, Intentional Mat Pilates, Strength Training, Yoga, and Qigong and Tai Chi.

The Pasadena Senior Center is an independent, donor-supported nonprofit founded in 1960 that, according to its magazine, receives no federal, state or local government funding and is supported by private contributions, membership and program fees, and special events. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to noon. General questions can be directed to the Welcome Desk at (626) 795-4331.
