Side Street Projects Offers Free Youth Woodworking and an All-Ages Art Skillshare in Altadena Sunday

Published on Sep 12, 2026

Side Street Projects runs two free programs in Altadena on Sunday, Sept. 13: a youth woodworking class from 10 a.m. to noon, and a mixed-media self-portrait skillshare from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The woodworking class is open to ages 5 to 15 and capped at 15 students. Students work with only hand tools, learning sanding, sawing, shaping, drilling, setting screws, clamping, hammering and incising. The organization asks participants to bring water, snacks and closed-toed shoes, and to arrive early or on time to claim a spot. A parent or guardian can register a child at https://www.sidestreet.org/classes/ww-onsite-9-13.

The skillshare is led by teaching artist Nandi and is open to all ages. Participants make a mixed-media self-portrait that the organization says explores self-expression and celebrates a personal story. Side Street Projects says the skillshare runs at the same time as the woodworking class, and invites people to come as a family or on their own. Registration is at https://www.sidestreet.org/classes/mixed-media.

Each is held in Altadena at a location the organization gives to registered participants. Side Street Projects can be reached at (626) 798-7774.
