A classic rock cover band based in Alhambra will play a free three-hour set Saturday at Nano Cafe in Sierra Madre, the latest in a series of San Gabriel Valley engagements for a group whose members reunited last year after their previous band wound down.

Groovy Tunes is scheduled to perform from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Pacific time on June 27 at the cafe, 322 W. Sierra Madre Blvd, according to the event listing on allevents.in and information published on the Nano Cafe website. There is no cover charge, and the cafe recommends calling for reservations to secure seating; the venue’s phone number is (626) 325-3334.

The cafe sits about five miles east of central Pasadena, in the foothill stretch of the San Gabriel Valley that connects Pasadena and Altadena to Sierra Madre and Arcadia. Nano Cafe describes itself on its website as serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour and live music, with happy hour food and drinks offered daily from 3 to 6 p.m. Its kitchen operates from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays.

Groovy Tunes is composed of four former members of a prior band, Free Wing, along with a new drummer, according to the group’s organizer description on allevents.in. The band’s YouTube channel identifies the four returning members — referred to in the event copy as Aldo, Vern, Steve and Brian — as alumni of Alhambra High School from the early 1970s who played together in Free Wing for eight years, from 2017 through April 2025. The fifth member named in the Nano Cafe event listing is Dave. Full names and individual instrumental roles are not provided in the public materials.

The band’s allevents.in organizer page lists a steady run of 2026 bookings across the San Gabriel Valley. Previous engagements include the Buccaneer Lounge in Sierra Madre on March 14, a private dinner-dance at Pasadena Elks, Lodge 672 on March 20, The Roar Room in Glendale on April 11, the La Verne Wine Walk at Lordsburg Taphouse & Grill on April 18, a Monrovia Route 66 100-Year Celebration on May 3, and Matt Denny’s Ale House Restaurant in Arcadia on May 15. The same page lists a return date at Nano Cafe on Sept. 12.

Nano Cafe’s website carries an image of a live-music schedule poster covering Saturday evening performers from May through August; the image’s alt text indicates that some shows on that schedule carry a $5 cover charge, though the June 27 Groovy Tunes set is listed as no-cover.

The cafe’s full menu and bar service will be available during the performance, according to the event listing. Reservations may be made at (626) 325-3334; the cafe maintains a Facebook page at facebook.com/TheNanoCafe.
