The Mt. Wilson Trail Race is trading mountain peaks for city streets this October, creating an accessible community event that preserves the excitement of the historic challenge without requiring any climbing.

The Mt. Wilson Trail 5K Recovery Run, sponsored by the Mount Wilson Trail Race Committee, takes place Saturday, Oct. 4, at 8 a.m., starting and ending at Kersting Court in Sierra Madre. The route follows Baldwin Avenue to Mira Monte Avenue, then west along Carter Avenue to Bailey Canyon Park before returning to Baldwin Avenue.

Unlike the exclusive mountain race, this event welcomes all skill levels and ages with no participant limit. Adult registration costs $54.25, while youth ages 5 to 17 pay $44.25. Children can participate free in the Kids’ Fun Run. All paid entries receive a Mount Wilson Trail Race T-shirt and goodie bag.

The event supports the Fletcher Trail Maintenance Fund, supplying equipment and materials for volunteer crews repairing the Mt. Wilson Trail following Eaton Fire damage.

“Participants will have the option to make a separate donation to support trail recovery efforts during registration. All proceeds from donations are directed to the Fletcher Trail Maintenance Fund,” explained Pete Siberell, Mount Wilson Trail Race Committee director.
