Singer/songwriter Claudia Nygaard will be at the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadane on Thursday, October 6, performing songs that make you feel like you have known her a very long time.
Her performance begins at 8 p.m.
Claudia Nygaard is as open as an old friend, with a complete lack of self-censorship, and her warm, resonant alto flows into a room like amber honey, delivering cinematic lyrics that are little slices of Americana. Listening to her songs is like watching a movie – some are movies so heartfelt that tears come, some are comedies that make us laugh out loud at ourselves, some are dramas where the scrappy heroine takes out the bad guy, and some are so romantic and sensual… well, you’ll understand when you hear them.
Building on the craft she learned while a staff songwriter on Nashville’s Music Row, Nygaard has won numerous awards including the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival Songwriting Competition, and – with the title cut of her last album “Lucky Girl” – the Tumbleweed Music Festival Songwriting Competition.
“Lucky Girl” charted at #3 on the Folk Alliance Radio song chart, and her previous album “Let The Storm Roll In” rose to #1 on the Cashbox Roots/Country chart.
Tickets to Thursday’s event are $20.
