Museums of the Arroyo Day returns for its 35th year, offering free admission to six historical museums across Los Angeles, Pasadena, and South Pasadena. The community event, scheduled for Sunday, May 4 from noon to 4 p.m., aims to connect thousands of Angelenos with the rich cultural heritage of the Arroyo Seco region.

“This year marks the 35th anniversary of Museums of the Arroyo Day — a community event that annually brings together thousands of Angelenos from across Southern California to experience the rich history, iconic architecture and arts-driven neighborhoods of the Arroyo Seco area,” event organizers said in their announcement.

Visitors can explore the Gamble House, Heritage Square, Los Angeles Police Museum, Lummis Home and Garden, Pasadena Museum of History, and South Pasadena Historical Museum throughout the afternoon. Free shuttle service will connect all participating locations, allowing guests to move easily between venues.

The event, themed “Life in the Past Lane,” showcases the area’s great architecture, historical discoveries, and provides family fun and entertainment through various activities and exhibitions.

With numerous options available across the six locations, organizers recommend planning ahead.

“Organizers stress that guests should plan to visit no more than three museums for a satisfying MOTA Day experience,” according to promotional materials. Visitors are encouraged to check the official website at www.MuseumsOfTheArroyo.com for parking locations, shuttle routes, and up-to-date information about events at each museum.

Those interested in learning more can also follow MOTA on Facebook under the username “museumsofthearroyo” and participate in social media conversations using the hashtag #MOTADay2025.
