A “stunning” interpretation of Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman’s acclaimed musical “Follies” by Pasadena Playhouse will launch at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in 2025, part of two extraordinary musical weekends.
The production, “Follies in Concert,” features powerhouse vocalists alongside a 25-piece orchestra and will showcase the musical’s celebrated score, including well-known numbers like “Broadway Baby,” “Losing My Mind,” and “I’m Still Here.”
The concert staging promises a “deeply emotional and unforgettable performance” as part of a broader Sondheim Celebration encore series, said a Pasadena Playhouse announcement.
Organizers have scheduled special accommodations for the Feb. 1, 2025, matinee performance, offering both open captioning and audio description services for hearing and visually impaired audience members.
The open captioning system will display synchronized text descriptions of the onstage action, while audio description services will provide verbal details about costumes, scenery and visual elements.
Audio description services will be available throughout the Orchestra level seating section, with patrons advised to arrive 15 minutes early for pre-show notes.
Performances are scheduled for Jan. 31 at 8 p.m., with two shows following on February 1 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.
