Sony imaging specialist Karla Campos will lead a comprehensive portrait photography workshop on Saturday, August 16, designed to help photographers master professional lighting techniques and subject direction. The 90-minute class aims to bridge the gap between amateur snapshots and professional-quality portraits through hands-on instruction in camera settings and composition.
“Stories are what drive her photography. Karla loves meeting new people and spreading her knowledge and passion for photography with others,” according to her instructor biography.
The workshop runs from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Samy’s Camera Pasadena, located at 1759 East Colorado Blvd., in Pasadena.
Campos, who brings over 10 years of photography experience as both a Sony Tech Specialist and member of Sony Imaging Solutions, will cover essential portrait techniques including natural and studio lighting, natural versus artificial lighting techniques, effective subject posing and direction, and optimal camera settings for professional results.
The curriculum emphasizes practical application, teaching participants to control composition and background elements while confidently directing subjects during shoots. Campos also serves as a Sony Camera Tech Rep, allowing her to travel and share expertise on the latest photography products and technology with dealers and customers.
“Karla enjoys sharing her knowledge of the latest products and technology in photography with dealers and customers,” her biography notes.
Samy’s Photo School Pasadena organizes the event as part of their broader educational offerings, which include beginner courses and specialized workshops covering various camera systems and techniques. The class is free for those who purchased a Sony camera from Samy’s Camera, making advanced photography education accessible to new equipment owners.
Registration follows standard event policies, with refunds available up to seven days before the workshop date. The focused format allows participants to gain practical skills in portrait photography while learning to maximize their Sony camera capabilities under expert guidance.
The workshop represents Sony’s commitment to supporting photographers beyond equipment sales, providing ongoing education that helps users fully utilize their camera investments. Campos’ dual role as both technical specialist and traveling representative positions her uniquely to address both creative and technical aspects of portrait photography.
