The networking event, billed as “a chance to network and learn – a ‘master class’ for small businesses,” will take place at The Daily restaurant, 1119 Fair Oaks Avenue, with tickets priced at $35.
Yet as of January 31, the chamber has not publicly disclosed the speaker’s identity or the presentation topic.
“Presentation details go out to the ShopTalk mailing list each month,” according to the chamber’s event page, creating a two-tiered information system that restricts speaker credentials and presentation topics to mailing list subscribers only.
ShopTalk has operated as a monthly fixture, consistently meeting on the first Tuesday of each month.
Recent speakers have included Mayor Janet Braun in December and Mayor Jon Primuth in December 2023.
The chamber’s approach contrasts with the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, which publishes complete details for its comparable Connection Breakfast program, including registration deadlines and pricing.
The South Pasadena chamber, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit founded in 2004, has 370 members and estimated 2024 annual budget of $350,000, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2025 directory.
