South Pasadena’s beloved Wine & Song series continues its tradition of showcasing diverse musical talent this Wednesday, offering an intimate evening with singer-songwriter Sophie Reynolds and the eclectic American roots group Late for the Train. The event, held within the unique ambiance of Dinosaur Farm’s “Speakeasy,” promises a blend of Reynolds’ introspective pop-folk and Late for the Train’s vibrant, storytelling sound, providing a mid-week cultural respite for music enthusiasts.
The Wine & Song series, a community hub for musicians and fans for sixteen years, is known for its curated performances that highlight both emerging and established artists. This week’s installment brings together two acts with distinct yet complementary styles. Sophie Reynolds, a Pasadena native, has been writing and performing original music since 2018, blending pop, singer-songwriter, and folk sounds. Her second EP, “Somewhere Better Than Here,” was released in 2022, with her latest, “Just in Time,” following in 2025. Late for the Train, rooted in American roots music, released their second studio album, “The Flowers of Yesteryear,” in April 2024, and debuted internationally in Ireland the same year. The group, featuring Dave Pascoe, Laura Benson, Thom Beneduci, and Bud Dillard, has toured the West Coast, bringing their powerful live show to various music festivals.
The Dinosaur Farm “Speakeasy” provides a unique backdrop for the performances, inviting attendees to enter from the back alley, adding an element of discovery to the evening. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., allowing guests to settle in before the music begins at 7:00 p.m. The event underscores Wine & Song’s mission to foster a vibrant local music scene, offering a platform for artists and a gathering place for those who appreciate well-crafted songs and engaging stories.
