Randy Shulman, Vice President for Advancement and External Relations at The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, will be guest speaker at the Pasadena Rotary Club’s weekly meeting on Wednesday, March 23, which will be in person at the University Club of Pasadena and live on Zoom as well.

He will speak on the topic of “The Huntington Library: A Place of Calm in a Turbulent World,” and provide insights on The Huntington’s renaissance and the background of the dramatic changes at the Museum over the past 25 years. His illustrated talk will also showcase several new important projects.

The meeting begins at 12 noon and is open to the public.

At The Huntington, Randy Shulman works closely with staff throughout the organization to further programmatic dynamism. Over the past two decades, The Huntington has evolved into a world-class institution. With up to 1,800 scholars visiting The Huntington annually, the humanities research being conducted at The Huntington makes it one of the most active in the nation, while at the same time helping K-12 teachers engage their students through innovative learning.

The Huntington now has new and revitalized gardens and galleries that serve an expanding set of diverse audiences, reaching these audiences in ways never before possible. Shulman’s own history is intertwined in the story of The Huntington.

“I came to The Huntington as a 12-year-old volunteer with a dream – to have a chance to someday make a difference in this special place,” he states.

Shulman joined the staff in 1999 and assumed his current role in 2009. Annually, he teaches a class, Huntington 101, that helps explain the international significance of the research being done at The Huntington.

Shulman is a graduate of San Marino Schools, Pasadena City College, Cal Poly Pomona, and USC, where he earned a Master in Public Administration degree. He has also been involved on the Board of Union Station Homeless Services, where he was Board Chair. He and his wife Mona reside in Pasadena.
