St. Andrew Catholic Church in Pasadena has released a full schedule of Holy Week liturgies and devotions for 2026, guiding parishioners from Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday. The schedule combines regular weekday Masses, opportunities for confession, and bilingual celebrations.
Holy Week formally began at St. Andrew with Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion on March 29.
On Holy Monday, March 30, and Holy Tuesday, March 31, the parish follows the regular Mass schedule and adds a Penance Service in the evening. St. Andrew holds its Penance Service at 7:15 p.m., at which the Sacrament of Confession is offered to parishioners, and the parish has historically included Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament as part of this service.
On Holy Wednesday, April 1, the parish continues its regular Mass schedule. St. Andrew celebrates the ancient Sung Tenebrae Service at 7:30 p.m., a liturgical tradition featuring the chanting of penitential psalms and the gradual extinguishing of candles, symbolizing the darkness that fell upon the world at the moment of Christ’s death.
Holy Thursday, April 2, begins with Morning Prayer at 8:15 a.m., followed by confessions at 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. That evening, St. Andrew celebrates the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m., commemorating the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper.
“It is important to note that no Masses are celebrated in the Catholic Church on Good Friday; the Solemn Liturgy is a distinct, non-Mass liturgical service comprising the reading of the Passion, the Veneration of the Cross, and the distribution of Holy Communion.”
Good Friday, April 3, opens with Morning Prayer at 8:15 a.m. and confessions beginning at 8:30 a.m. The parish then holds the Stations of the Cross at noon, followed by Meditations on the Seven Last Words from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Solemn Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion begins at 1:30 p.m. in English, followed by a procession with the Image of the Dead Christ, and a second Solemn Liturgy is celebrated at 5:30 p.m. in English. A third celebration of the Solemn Liturgy is offered at 7 p.m. in Spanish.
On Holy Saturday, April 4, the parish offers Morning Prayer at 8:15 a.m. and confessions at 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. That evening, St. Andrew celebrates the Solemn Easter Vigil Mass beginning at 8 p.m., the single liturgical celebration of the day, with no 5 p.m. Mass or 7 p.m. confessions held, and the regular 5 p.m. Saturday Vigil Mass yields entirely to the Easter Vigil.
Easter Sunday, April 5, is observed on the parish’s regular Sunday Mass schedule. Based on the official parish information, Masses are offered at 6:30 a.m. (Spanish), 8 a.m. (English), 9:30 a.m.
(English), 11 a.m. (Spanish), 12:30 p.m. (English), 2 p.m. (Spanish), and 5 p.m. (English), with direct confirmation of the specific times for Easter Sunday 2026 recommended through the parish office at (626) 792-4183 or at www.saintandrewpasadena.org.
