Final Shopping Day: Step Into Comfort—At Lucha’s Discount Event

South Pasadena specialty retailer offers relief for foot pain and wallets
Published on May 9, 2025

Lucha’s Comfort Footwear, a family-owned business specializing in style-conscious supportive and therapeutic footwear, will host its first-ever Semi-Annual Sale since pre-covid from May 16 through May 18 at its South Pasadena location.

The three-day event offers customers 20% off all regular stock and up to 50% off clearance items as part of the store’s seasonal retail strategy.

“We have a very good selection of comfort footwear for people who have issues with their feet, or are traveling, or just want a comfortable pair of shoes,” said Gabriela Wiltrout, manager. “All of our inventory is high-end quality, and we back our inventory.”

The sale will run Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the store’s 921 Fair Oaks Ave. location.

All inventory will be discounted, including accessories such as hats, bags, and shoe care products.

Established in 1985 by Lucia Wiltrout, the Latinx-owned, women-run small business has served the South Pasadena community for over 35 years. The store’s regular hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The store maintains an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and specializes in helping customers with foot conditions.

“We specialize in people who have foot issues,” says owner Lucia Wiltrout, who is certified in pedorthics. The store’s footwear products aim to “provide natural comfort by relieving the pain caused by foot conditions and disorders.”

Lucha’s carries numerous European brands including Birkenstock, Eric, Michael in Comfort, Meto and Aura. According to customer reviews, the store also stocks footwear from SAS, Keen, Ecco, Mephisto and Dansko. Most products use European sizing, which Lucha’s staff will convert for customers.

“We are a specialized store when it comes to comfort shoes,” Wiltrout explained. The retailer stocks footwear based on “functionality, craftsmanship, durability, comfort, and style,” according to its website.

Health experts emphasize the importance of proper footwear.

“Research shows that we use less energy, are less likely to sustain an injury or fall and we perform better in sports and fitness activities when wearing comfortable shoes,” noted Dr. Paul Langer, a sports medicine podiatrist.

Regular stock items can be special ordered with the 20% discount if paid in full during the sale period, while clearance items are limited to available inventory and represent models the store can no longer replenish. The store accepts major credit cards, Apple Pay, cash and previously issued gift certificates.

Wiltrout recommends shopping early for the best selection.

“If you come in the morning, it’s first come, first serve as far as the back of the store goes, that’s the clearance section. So coming in the mornings will give you the best inventory to choose from.”

In addition to footwear, Lucha’s offers insoles.

“We also have insoles to upgrade and give more support to people who have their own shoes that want to continue wearing them but aren’t comfortable in them,” Wiltrout added.

A certified pedorthist is available on-site for custom orthotics, making Lucha’s a destination for those seeking specialized foot care solutions.
