What smells so good? It sure smells a lot like summer.

Southern California will see a lot of grilling in kitchens and backyards this summer, and according to Vallarta Supermarkets, one of the largest Latino-owned supermarkets chains in California. They expect to sell 30 million pounds of top-grade, high-quality meat through September, with a variety of fresh meats and cuts to choose from for summer gatherings.

“Shoppers can get ready for grilling season with just one stop here at Vallarta,” said Mark Montelongo, Vice President of Meat, Seafood and Prepared Foods, Vallarta Supermarkets.

The Pasadena store on North Fair Oaks Avenue at Orange Grove Boulevard also offers a wide variety of meats, exclusive aguas frescas, side dishes, or freshly made salsas and tortillas.

Your standard barbeque can take on a whole new flavor with Vallarta’s seasonal new summer items, like the new Berry Blast Agua Fresca developed by Vallarta’s Chef German Gonzalez. The new Berry Blast Agua Fresca is made with seasonal delicious strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries.

Vallarta also offers a  wide selection of fresh salsas and sides, like a mild Pineapple Salsa,  or the new Spicy Guacamole, made with serrano chiles for some backyard fireworks without the neighbors complaining.

Vallarta’s Ranchera flap meat, commonly known as Carne Asada, is the market’s own invention. Shoppers can take home the pre-marinated Carne Asada made with Vallarta’s marinade, a blend of special spices, or they can season to their own taste using Vallarta’s fresh ingredients and spices.

Maybe not Carne Asada this weekend? Vallarta’s meat department also includes some Diesmillo action for stews or roasts and juicy pork for tacos, and tostadas, and whatever crazy barbeque idea your cousin from Duarte will think of next.

Vallarta also offers a variety of American meat cuts, such as Porterhouse, T-Bone, and Tri-Tip, and carries USDA choice Tomahawk steak, a premium, thick-cut ribeye steak, not commonly carried at other supermarkets.

To fill out the summer menu, there is also boneless chicken breast, chicken leg meat, pork spareribs, salmon, and lobster tails, among other grilling favorites.

Through the Vallarta Go delivery service, customers can also shop from the convenience of their home and have their groceries and fresh authentic foods delivered to their homes. La Cocina prepared foods are also available for pickup or delivery.

In Pasadena, the Vallarta Supermarket is located at 655 N. Fair Oaks Ave. For more information call (626) 204-6960.
