Sweat and the City: Playhouse Village Association’s Free Fitness Series at New Downtown Park

Get ready to break a sweat and have some fun with the Playhouse Village Association’s new fitness series at Playhouse Village Park starting Thursday. Led by local fitness studios, these free outdoor classes offer a range of exercises to suit all fitness levels and preferences.

The monthly series features classes on the second and fourth Thursday evenings beginning at 5:30 p.m. From high-energy workouts to meditative yoga, find the class that best suits your fitness goals and enjoy your neighborhood park.

The series kicks off Thursday with Archetype Slow Flow, a 60-minute yoga class led by studio owner Sara Blumekranz. This restorative yet playful practice is perfect for all levels of experience, so don’t forget to bring your own mat!

On April 13, Basecamp Fitness will be leading a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout that will get your heart pumping and calories burning. Modified to your level, this 35-minute workout alternates between cardio and strength exercises for an all-in, full-body workout.

Later in the month, Space B.A.R. Wellness will guide you through a Holotropic-style breath work session that increases lung capacity and serves as a high-intensity workout for your lungs. Afterward, participants can take a cold plunge to build resiliency and regulate their nervous systems.

Finally, on May 11, Anytime Fitness will lead an all-ages strength and conditioning body weight bootcamp. Using your own body weight as resistance, this workout will improve your strength, flexibility, coordination, and endurance.

March 23    Archetype Slow Flow led by Archetype Yoga

A 60-minute yoga extravaganza taught by studio owner Sara Blumekranz who offers a restorative yet playful yoga practice. Great for all levels of practice. Please bring your own mat.   

 

April 13       High intensity Interval Training full body workout by Basecamp Fitness

This all-in, high-energy group workout packs a supercharged calorie burn into just 35 minutes, alternating between heart-thumping cardio to strength moves, modified to your level.

 

April 27       Breath Work & Cold Plunge guided by Space B.A.R. Wellness

Learn about Holotropic style breath work that will increase lung capacity and serve as a high intensity workout for your lungs. After breath work, their expert coaches will guide you through a cold plunge and help you connect to your breath and build resiliency by helping you regulate your nervous system. Please bring swimwear if you will be participating in the cold plunge exercise.

 

May 11        All-Ages Strength & Conditioning Body Weight Bootcamp with Anytime Fitness

Use your own bodyweight for exercises to create resistance and improve strength, flexibility, and endurance, as well as coordination.
