Healing Force of the Universe in Pasadena will host a synth pop night on July 20 featuring New Orleans-based Bride, Los Angeles duo Pride Month Barbie, and atmospheric project Organelle.
“We just want to be a welcoming, hospitable place for musicians and the music community and bring some beauty into the world,” said Austin Manuel, owner of Healing Force of the Universe.
Bride, the musical project of Nessa Bridget Wheatley, writes, performs, programs and produces electronic synth-pop music.
Wheatley released a seven-track album titled “Hear” in 2020.
Pride Month Barbie, formed in 2022 by Tyler Holmes and Josephine Shetty (aka Kohinoorgasm), released their debut LP “All The Girls in the Room Say ‘Sorry'” in June 2024.
The band creates pop music that challenges what queer, femme, Black and brown artists are allowed to explore through art and culture.
Completing the bill is Organelle, a project creating “dark ambient and atmospheric folk guided by ethereal vocals.” The act released “Windchimes 83” in February 2023.
Healing Force of the Universe, named after Albert Ayler’s 1969 jazz album, functions as both a record store and event space.
The venue hosts shows almost daily.
Doors open at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $12 in advance (plus DICE fees) or $15 at the door, with discounted prices for venue members.
