Like we thank firemen after major brush fires, many community members are finding ways to care for medical community workers serving on the frontlines. With caseloads reaching their peaks and hospital beds in short supply, supporting medical workers becomes more crucial than ever. That’s why local tea shop Chado Tea is donating a portion of all online and in-store profits from both their Pasadena and Torrance stores from April 20-April 25th to Off Their Plate.
Off Their Plate is a volunteer non-profit organization which provides meals to hospital teams while keeping restaurant workers employed. All donations fund the cost of meals prepared by local restaurants, with at least 50% going toward their employee salaries. Themeals are then delivered by volunteers to hospital EDs and ICUs, ensuring that medical heroes are well fed during a time when their full attention and expertise is so needed.
Whether buying tea for yourself or as a gift (Mother’s Day is just around the corner!), remember that you’ll not only be supporting your own sense of calm and wellbeing, but you’ll be contributing to the wellbeing of those most vital to the fight against COVID-19.
Locals can pick up from Chado’s Pasadena tearoom, which continues to offer “Afternoon Tea To Go” pickup windows daily from 12pm – 4pm. Enjoy their full menu of tea sandwiches, paninis, soups and salads, or pick up canisters of teas to-go to make for the perfect high tea experience at home.
