Tea Tech & Tequila Immersive Salon to Capturing the Spirit of Pasadena’s Legacy That Combines the Arts, Sciences and Salons

Published on Oct 22, 2020

In the true spirit of Pasadena’s history and legacy of combining the arts, sciences, and salons, The Funding Boutique is partnering with Innovate Pasadena for a Tea Tech and Tequila Immersive Salon on Saturday, October 24, a virtual event featuring cutting edge technologies on virtual collaboration platforms with a traditional salon format that benefits arts education.

This biannual event is part of Connect Week Pasadena, October 18 to 24, when independent organizers collaborate to produce a festival of independently organized talks, workshops, and social events. During Connect Week, entrepreneurs, engineers, investors, scientists, educators, businesspeople, designers, and students unite and celebrate the creativity and ingenuity that’s right here in Pasadena’s own backyard.

Tea Tech and Tequila, from 4 to 6 p.m., is a mixed-reality and interactive experience in a unique virtual collaboration platform where attendees can choose an avatar, network and interact with other attendees in the virtual lobby and networking rooms; attend breakout sessions; view live demos, hang out in tea and tequila lounges; and view tech showcase presentations by innovators and entrepreneurs representing visionary companies in Pasadena and around the globe.

The event is produced by Zenobia Millet, the Tech Diva of The Funding Boutique.

“This will not be just another Zoom meeting, but, rather, an immersive experience, where attendees can explore and interact in a creative and music-enhanced virtual space,” Millet said. “We know we have a ‘must-see experience’ event among the many events we have to choose from during Innovate Pasadena’s Connect Week.”

Members of the Pasadena Open Source consortium and The Funding Boutique provide the setup and support for the open source Mozilla Hubs environment, the virtual reality platform for the Tea Tech and Tequila Immersive Salon.

Last year, the Salon’s past two events were held at Pasadena’s historic Blinn House, but has included virtual reality and augmented reality features, including an XR (extended reality) Observatory, which offers more for those who want to experience new forms of reality, enhanced with VR gear.

The event benefits Foothill Arts Collective, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization that has nurtured San Gabriel youth in the arts for over 25 years.  Tea Tech and Tequila also offers an enhanced and results-focused networking event, providing opportunities for innovators – inclusive of women and people of color – to showcase best-in-class and emerging technology.

“For Tea Tech and Tequila, it’s been a natural progression of exploring the virtual frontier and capitalizing on the many possibilities it offers,” Millet said.
