The retrospective, running through Jan. 11, 2025, features an extensive collection of Ericson’s black-and-white and color works, including landscapes, portraits, and abstract compositions at 1121 Mission Street in South Pasadena.
Ericson, who established himself as a prominent figure in South Pasadena’s cultural landscape, founded both the South Pasadena Review and the South Pasadena Quarterly Magazine during his distinguished career.
Through his William Ericson Agency, the photographer collaborated with entertainment industry giants, serving clients from legendary rock band Kiss to acclaimed performers Donna Summer and Rick Springfield to the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. His commercial portfolio included major corporations like DreamWorks, Warner Bros., MGM, Bank of America, Chrysler, Sears, and Honda, while his motion picture work attracted collaborations with Directors Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Jeffrey Katzenberg.
The photographer’s distinguished film industry collaborations extended to work with Steven Segal, Oliver Stone, and Quentin Tarantino, establishing his reputation across multiple entertainment sectors.
The exhibition opening on Saturday, from 3 to 6 p.m., will also feature “The World of Bill Ericson,” a 355-page retrospective book documenting his photographic journey.
The SPARC Gallery @ the Chamber, which should not be confused with the SPARC Centre Gallery on El Centro Ave., operates as part of the South Pasadena Arts Council, a nonprofit established in 2009.
The organization develops educational programs and fosters cultural events in visual, performing, literary, and media arts, collaborating with organizations throughout South Pasadena and the surrounding Los Angeles area.
