The Friends of Crowell Library Book Shoppe Goes Virtual!

STAFF REPORT
Published on Nov 3, 2020

Apparently, many, many people took advantage of the Corona virus lockdown to purge their bookshelves, closets and cupboards. The results? An overwhelming bounty of books donated to the Friends of Crowell Public Library. Unfortunately, the Friends Book Shoppe still is not open to the public, but their new online store is, just in time for the holiday shopping season!

The virtual bookshop can be located by clicking on https://crowellfriends.square.site/ or pasting the link into the URL field of your browser. Or, if you’re on the Crowell Library homepage, just scroll down to the very bottom and click on “Friends of the Crowell Public Library,” and that will also take you to their virtual bookshop. Now you can browse and fill up your shopping cart. Books can be purchased individually or in curated collections. There are grab bags in a multitude of genres, puzzles, and DVDs. The Friends’ Book Shoppe is famous for its high quality, gently used history titles, cookbooks, travel, business, juvenile and fiction titles in an amazing array of formats. If you don’t see something you like online, put in a request at the bottom of the page and a Friend will search the bookshop for it.

Once your cart is full, you can check out just like you would with any online vendor, but instead of receiving a package on your doorstep, you will pick up your purchase at Crowell Public Library during our normal curbside pickup hours: 11am-4pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 2pm-7pm on Thursdays. No orders will be shipped. A Friend will contact you once your order is ready for pick up.

Without the Friends, Crowell Library would have fewer children’s books, no programs, and would not be open on Fridays. The Friends support is absolutely integral to library operations and offerings.

Get a jump on your holiday shopping while giving to a great cause.
