On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Five Acres will celebrate a remarkable milestone with The Golden Five Acres Gala, marking 100 years of hope, heart, and home in Altadena. Tickets are now on sale via the Five Acres website for this special evening at a private club in Pasadena, honoring the centennial of its historical Altadena campus and the thousands of children and families impacted there.

Inspired by the 1920s, the gala will bring together community leaders, longtime supporters, and friends for an elegant evening of live music, magic, classic cocktails, and curated fare.

While Five Acres was founded in 1888, for a century, Five Acres’ Altadena historical headquarters has been a place of safety and healing for children in need. What began as a residential home has grown into a comprehensive organization providing foster care, adoption services, and vital mental and behavioral health support. While much has changed since 1888, the goal remains the same: keeping children safe and families strong.

“This year, we celebrate 100 years of our historical Altadena headquarters, a place that has provided safety, healing, and hope for generations of children,” said Jennifer Berger, Chief Advancement Officer of Five Acres. “It’s both a reflection on where we’ve been and a commitment to the children and families we will continue to serve.

”The Altadena building was made possible by early donors who commissioned renowned architect Myron Hunt to design a child-centered facility that opened in 1926.

The Five Acres Gala Committee led by mother-daughter co-chairs Tera Wild and Trish Gonzales, includes Shoshana Puccia, Chris Selak, Nancy Aplin, Chantal Bennett, Chelby Crawford Smith, Candy Renick, Scott Griffin, Erica Adler, Leo Bolanos, Mimi Carter, Farnaz Datomi, Michele Doll, Beth Hansen, Kirsten Hansen, Ashley Housman, Julie Lawson, Sue McGuirl, Nicole Rasic, Tammi Rogers, Sharick Smyser-O’Keefe, Alex Viglione, and Zeenat Zonte, all working together to bring this milestone celebration to life. Proceeds from the evening will benefit children in foster care and families receiving vital support services.

The Golden Five Acres Gala is more than a celebration, it’s a promise to carry forward a legacy of care, compassion, and community for the next 100 years and beyond.
