Fresh from a sold-out run in London, Lightscape, an internationally-acclaimed light installation, is dazzling its way throughout the lush  LA County Arboretum and Botanic  Garden.

The show is a one-mile lighted path through the gardens, combining  music, lights and sound, to create a series of atmospheres, ranging from the Fire Gardens to the Winter Castle, in the 127-acre botanical garden and historical site in what was the heart of the original Spanish Rancho Santa Anita in Arcadia.

There are fields of lights, and streams of lights, and tunnels of lights along a darkened path which loops around the gardens. Each of the various light installations also features its own music, ranging from pop jazz to dark, sonic atmospheres of layered sound.

Lights dart across the fountain pond facing Baldwin Avenue, while other light spires reach for the sky,  accompanied by ghostly choirs.

The effect is enchanting, sometimes spooky, sometimes inspiring,  but always enlightening.

Lightscapes at the LA County Arboretum opens Friday, November 12, and runs through January 16, 2022. 301 N Baldwin Ave Arcadia, CA 91007. https://www.arboretum.org/. (626) 821-3222.
