Pasadena Symphony and POPS will present pieces by Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky during “Pasadena Presents,” the Symphony’s new concert model this fall that adapts to Covid-related restrictions for in-person concerts and offers an exciting online series of chamber music.
“Pasadena Presents” is actually a series of four performances starting this Saturday, October 17, and running up to November 14. In order to adapt to guidelines set by local and state authorities, “Pasadena Presents” will feature guest artists and musicians from the orchestra in a socially distanced concert setting.
These performances transform the postponed concerts from March and April, as well as the first two concerts of the 2020-2021 Classics season.
Curated and hosted by Pasadena Symphony Music Director David Lockington, each concert will feature a renowned soloist performing a concerto in recital, followed by an ensemble of Pasadena Symphony musicians performing chamber music works.
This Saturday, October 17, Pasadena Symphony’s own violinist Simone Porter returns to delight audiences with Mendelssohn’s intensely romantic “Violin Concerto” in recital.
A string sextet of virtuosos from Pasadena Symphony will then dazzle you with Tchaikovsky’s sonorously lush “Souvenir de Florence,” a chamber music masterpiece that will ignite your senses.
With a minimum fully tax-deductible donation of $100, you can become a supporting member of “Pasadena Presents,” and as a benefit you’ll receive on-demand access to stream all four Fall “Pasadena Presents” concerts.
