The Super Bubble LV: Local Eateries Kick Off Special Sunday Menus

Celestino, Raymond 1886, Mi Piace and other popular restaurants aim to make the game special

The Kansas City Chiefs and The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face each other in your living room or in your cell phone this weekend in Super Bowl LV.

That big bash you usually attend or throw each year? Not happening. You and all yours will be in the Super Bubble LV this year, safely noshing and tossing down cold ones.

Without a care in the world as to what to wear.

But not what to eat. That  is still important, Super Buddy LV.

This super game you can cheer your favorite millionaires on to victory with great food from some of Pasadena’s finest dining places, made even finer since they’re coming to your place this year.

Pasadena’s Celestino Ristorante is one of the best dining experiences any day of the year. It just got best-er.

Owner and executive chef Calogero Drago is preparing a Super Bowl Sunday menu worthy of a full house. Drago is offering up special LV selections such as his Mushroom Souffle, Ravioli filled with Duck, Mushrooms, & Porcino Blueberry Sauce, Tortellini Stuffed with Pumpkin Cream, Butter & Sage, Risotto with Red Beets & Goat Cheese, Ossobuco, Bistecca, and his “Big Game” Homemade Authentic Family-Style Lasagna Menu that can be pre-ordered 24 hours in advance.

For something sweet, save room and share a Tiramisu, Panna Cotta (Vanilla Custard with Strawberries) or the Torta Al Ciocolato (Flourless Chocolate Cake) for a perfect locker room celebration.

 And while we’re on the subject of Italian,  Mi Piace (“I Like It”) and its Executive Chef Gil Saulnier’s Sunday menu, offers a Charcuterie & Cheese featuring bresaola, San Daniele prosciutto, spicy calabrese, saucisson, peppered Copa Salami, chef’s cheese selection, fig marmalade, cornichons, and extra virgin olive oil crostini, to kick off the afternoon.

There’s also the  Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with signature house-made horseradish cocktail sauce, or the Crostini con Ricotta with handmade fresh lemon zest ricotta, extra virgin olive oil, herbs, Fleur de Sel and grilled ciabatta crostini.

Pizza also always works, no matter what down it is. Perhaps a Margherita alla Mi Piace made with Fontina, mozzarella, and creamy Stracciatella cheese with fresh oregano, basil leaves, marinara, and chili flakes, or the Old Town Speciale prepared with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, mushrooms, grilled eggplant, sliced tomatoes, feta cheese, olives, sweet onion and bell peppers?

Mi Piace also cooks up a great Black Label Burger, which features an exclusive prime ribeye mix topped with Tillamook cheddar, Vidalia onion, Thousand Island, organic tomato and Boston lettuce on a sesame brioche bun, served with a side of sweet house-made pickles and hand-cut French fries.

Sticking with Italian? There’s Ravioli con Salsiccia with sautéed mild Italian sausage, wilted broccolini, sun dried tomatoes, sliced garlic and white wine finished with Pecorino cheese, or the Spaghetti Aragosta comprised of sautéed diced lobster tail tossed with spaghetti in a San Marzano smoky chipotle cream sauce.

For the carnivore in the stands, there are Grilled Double Lamb Chops prepared with a Port wine demi-glace and roasted Yukon potatoes.

And yes, desserts.  Mi Piace offers the Midnight Fantasy, a chocolate cake with Swiss bittersweet chocolate fudge and raspberry purée; Tiramisu, or the New York Cheesecake with a creamy graham cracker crust and fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

The Raymond 1886 and  executive chef Jonathan Quintana are serving up their own LV menu beginning with Nachos (natch!), Nachos Al Pastor , Chicken Sandwich & Fries , and The Raymond 1886’s Classic Burger & Fries, Chef Jonathan’s homage to In-N-Out’s famous Double-Double.

Head Barman Jesus Gomez is also providing a Bloody Mary Kit, featuring a bottle of 1886 handmade Bloody Mary mix, bottle of vodka, lemon, cucumber, and olive garnish for two,  the Don Lockwood made with scotch, bourbon, maple syrup, and Angostura bitters, the Gold Rush, a spirit-forward Old Fashioned-style cocktail made with scotch, bourbon, and maple syrup, and Medicina Latina, made with tequila blanco, lime, honey, ginger, and a mezcal spritz.

The Raymond 1886 will be open on Super Bowl LV, Sunday, February 7th, 2021 for Outdoor Patio Dining. Brunch from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, and for Outdoor Patio Dining Dinner,  from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm;
