In the fall, this group of veteran musicians performed a sold-out concert at Post 13, serving up a long list of the very best hits from the 1960s and ’70s.
Band leader and singer John Derrough, a Vietnam veteran and past Post 13 commander, organized the band especially for the post.
The bandmembers’ alter egos take their names from great rock bands of the ’60s and early ’70s with colorful camp nicknames and costumes and wigs and lots and lots of attitude.
Fronted by Derrough (Herman), the PAST ACTION HEROES includes Johnny Doom on lead guitar (Janis), Charlotte Hodgins on rhythm guitar, tambourine and vocals (Carly), Gustie Galvin on keyboards and vocals (Roxie), Dave Henderson on bass (Petey) and Josef Zimmerman on drums (Jozo).
The band’s production team includes Leslie Johnson on lighting, Meromy Steckling on sound and a handful of backup volunteers.
The PAST ACTION HEROES’ upcoming concert, “Groovy Flashback,” will be presented Friday, Feb. 21 at Post 13.
The family-friendly show runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., with beer, wine and bar food available for purchase.
Seating is first come, first served.
Tickets cost $25, with a discount for veterans and seniors.
The show is open to the public, and proceeds support the American Legion and its many community programs.
